Racial identities deviating from the norm are often magnified. Makes visible the invisible norm of whiteness and how the social world is organized around this invisible norm and how its power is able to shape people"s lives. White privilege - those of american or white ethnicity are given advantages in the workplace and socially. Those that are white are seen as being supreme and hold the standards of how work should be done. Social hierarchy is encoded in the way of being and the way of doing. It does not present itself as an obvious form of racism, it is an invisible force pro- moting white normatively. Highlights the symbolic dimension of power embedded in ways of being and doing.
