Feminist scholars look at what happens in the sexual division of labour as capitalism develops. Sexual division of labour: women tend to have different jobs than men in our labour market. Notion that the labour market is not equally accessible to all people (segmented) Armstrong theorized how scholars struggled to understand women"s domestic work and the value of this work. Interested in how domestic work was linked to capitalism. Notion that a women"s economic position is tied to the development of capitalism. Industrialization lead to the separation of home" and work". Women, private, care, unproductive, home, reproduction (creating more workers) Men, public, paid labour, productive, workplace, production. All of the activities required to reproduce society including those outside of the productive-consumptive nexus.
