Some of the people including in the strikes would get beat up. Joe hill himself was shot during world war i because of his involvement with iww. After the war started most radical organizations were banned as soon as the war started, and the iww was put down. Therefroe being a member of the organization would get you arrested. One things was to ban organizations (iww) and to also round up people who were suspected of people not being loyal to canada, (immigrants). The government ability to run the economy and armed forces expanded dramatically.
