Large numbers of women going into the workforce during war. Women worked extra hours and were doing waged work and house work so this was a break when then men came home. Then, the baby boom happened and there was much more domestic demand/ responsibility then. Domestic demand is when people inside a country spend more. During the war, it was the opposite, people were saving money. After war, people took out their victory bonds and this is how they had all this money and it caused economic recovery. By the end of the war, what ends the bad times is big government spendings to win the war. After the war, people wanted the government to keep going with things like infrastructure projects such as the st. lawrence seaway. The st. lawrence seaway was very rapid and rough waters then, locks were put in - digging out canals to create smooth waters.
