The golden age : the canadian labor congress (clc) A lot of this order will end up lasting a long time. Series of strikes after the war 1945-1947: a test of how strong unions were and whether the system created during the war (union recognition) was strong. By 1949, it is a different world for organized labour. Cant go strike when collective agreement in effect. Union financial stability: most unions have financial security, not coming through law, unions are now thinking about other issues, unions get much more strike fund built up. Basic status of worker has changed: by 1950"s, status of workers was elevated, fordism: you see your workers as consumers. He payed them more so they could buy his cars.
