Locating classes: workers, capitalists, and everyone in between. Working/middle class family have kids working at ages (16-18) to contribute to the family or pay for themselves. Intergenerational class (the class of one generation spread to another and another) When you come from different classes, different opportunities are given. Travel: some people can"t afford to take their family to exotic places. School: some people have to work to pay for post-secondary school (higher class people may think that is weird that their not 100% focused in school and always working) Textbooks: professor may make assumptions about students that don"t buy the textbooks are bad (class assumptions: can buy the textbook vs can"t buy it) // to be a good student you must buy the textbook. Affects everyone (can be positive and negative) Some people feel embarrassed to talk about what class they are in. Media always shows characters in the higher class.
