Policies such as the imf and the world bank also affect countries in the north. These principles are at the heart of the remaking of the global north (the same principles apply) Neoliberal policies in the north seek to cut back on public services, infrastructure, privatize stay at home companies, cut peoples wages and conditions, to remove restrictions on foreign investment. In the global north, neoliberalism is destroying social welfare programs and social programs. Neoliberalism is a set of ideas (ideology) and it is also re ected in practices. Neoliberalism is about remaking capitalist society in a way that it attacks the governments ability to regulate the economy and to provide measures to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor. Inspired by adam smith, the father of capitalism. Argued that the economy works best when it is free from government control. Neoliberalism has allowed for the creation of massive monopolies, rather than the free hand which smith envisioned.
