Document Summary
The myth of globalization is that its growing from technology. To get country to adopt similar policies and laws of the game so that business and companies and investors can move place to place. We are going to allow the market to expand and all problems will be solved. Neoliberalism has been the most affective in this. Unions are seen in neoliberalism as a weakness. They see them as scary - make business unhappy and they will leave to other places. Neo-liberalism casts enormous doubt on the power of the unions and the impact of the union activity more broadly. Strategy -- not about casting the unions as a weakness but about dividing the workplace. Majority of the working class are not being represented by unions. Once unions start to really lose a lot of the union density (smaller proportion of the workforce) easier to use the divide and conquer strategy.
