More of a thinking paper - drawing on the articles discussed. We are thinking about the role of labour -- its agency. This debate centers around 5 main areas: renewing power resources. The battle of ideas (example; the us election currently) One major challenge is the nature of flexibilization on unions. What were often very well paying jobs with security and unionization became temp agency jobs. Was(cid:374)"t just i(cid:374) the ser(cid:448)i(cid:272)e se(cid:272)tor, te(cid:373)p. age(cid:374)(cid:272)(cid:455) (cid:449)ork gre(cid:449) u(cid:374)til it (cid:271)e(cid:272)a(cid:373)e a norm in how jobs were created in chicago. Organizing a work environment that is always influx. They fought against these agencies -- protesting leading to civil disobedience. And them being jailed for proclaiming their opinions upon them at this time temp agencies were random and not everywhere. But todays are vast and operate in more in 60 countries. And pull in more than 200 billion dollars a year. And they began in the us midwest in the 1920s.
