Whenever it"s cut out, the gene is restored to capital c rather than little c. Whenever you have the dissociation factor, you need the activator factor too to be able t the mosaic corn. Insertion of ds cant produce c gene. Ac element is also mobile and it can activate it itself. A cut and paste mechanism that removes the dna element from one locus and inserts in another.
