Natural classes and rules: this distinction applies to an entire natural class, there is a pattern in natural classes, there is a common pattern of features, the processes for superheroes include somethings but not everything. Review: we have several different sub types of features, there are class, laryngeal, manner and place of articulation features. Some notations for processes: we use a 0 with a slash that represents deletion or epenthesis, for deletion you have something then the 0, for epenthesis you have 0 then you have the something. Notations for environments: _ at the (cid:271)egi(cid:374)(cid:374)i(cid:374)g of a sylla(cid:271)le _ at the e(cid:374)d of a sylla(cid:271)le, #_ at the beginning of a word _# at the end of a word, v_v between vowels, c_c between consonants. If you are generalizing, you have to put feature notices that will indicate environment for it happening.
