Basic claim of theory refers to articulation in general. When understanding speech our mind interpreting signal by using that as a lens. Don"t need all acoustic info all redundant. Ppl with most categorical categorical perceptions so this shows a skewedness in data. Can"t hand-pick best participants and use that data to generalize for the entire population. Humans can show cp for non-speech sounds. Cp is very different from weber"s law and this can apply to non-speech sounds. Audiogram is similar to human"s audiogram which means chins are similarly sensitive to hearing rage as humans (200-20k hz) similar hearing. Kuhl and miller gave reward of water to chins during exp.
