MEDRADSC 3C03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 22: Coronary Circulation, Popliteal Artery, Femoral Artery
Document Summary
Imaging of the vessels after the injection of contrast media. Lecture #22: intro to vascular imaging & access. Imaging of the vessels with the injection of cm. Contraindications to dsa: contrast allergy, impaired renal function, clotting disorders, anticoagulant medication, unstable cardiopulmonary or neuro status (patient is very unstable; given invasive nature of angio & patient needs to stay still, very difficult) Same as angiography - dsa is just a software application. Contour, lumen, & filling defects demonstrated in vessels (artery & vein) Contour: are they ragged (buildup of plaque on the walls) Subtract everything that is similar b/n the 2 images (should be getting rid of the knee/bony anatomy) Could be seeing collateral circulation (due to a blockage in the popliteal artery) Have little contrast making its way past, collateral circulation. Small vasculature gets lost bc of the overlying bony anatomy. Catheter introduced into the heart &/or the surrounding vasculature for the purpose of diagnostic evaluation of cardiac related disorder.
