Plan the exam efficiently to minimize duration of time the patient must hold position. Basic routine similar to paranasal sinuses: lateral. Same patient positioning & beam positioning (center at mid-oml) as for lateral view for sinuses. Collimation is more open vertically to include mandible. Include down to the mentum of the mandible - want to see shadow on mandible. Msp - tells us if we have any rotation; if parallel to bucky. = everything si to diagnose any potential injuries. Ioml perpendicular to board - keeps everything centered on the board. Mandible not included in first image - need to open it up. Sponge used to keep interpupillary line perpendicular to the board.
