Idea that we approach the world predisposed to behave, see, think in certain ways. See a & image of an eye. Rebus representation of words or syllables . (see slides) Symmetry elements mirror from side to side along a common axis. Asymmetry elements are placed organically, retain on the interaction of form & negative space to yield tension & balance. You can think of design as a conversation of elements. Does the same thing as the previous image. What difference could that possibly make: we read from left to right, so our eyes will go there rst. We require differences in our eld of view to make sense of colour relationships. From a cognitive schema point of view elements of this design are derived from the uk. Union jack & the relationships between the elements (ie. cross, lines, etc. ) Meaning created through word & image together. Example volkswagen is like a mule.
