Haydn wrote new music at the esterhaza palace. Because of high status they could attract the best musicians. Haydn had great things going for him but he was still isolated because of his setting. He did return to vienna permanently where he wrote his oratorios, masses and. He was also a teacher in vienna and gave lessons in composition. One of his last composition students was beethoven. A string quartet is considered of 4 string players and 3 instruments: 2 violinists, 1 violist, 1 cellist.
