Singer sang 2 verses, 2 choruses and audience joined for final chorus criticized as shoddy and indecent popular until 1910 when multireel feature => 2nd projector => eliminating interval for changing reels. Usually a pianist or small orchestra (larger theatres) or phonograph (smaller theatres) Music used as entrance and exit music as a distraction or attraction. Back then music was seen as an added attraction. Music consisted of popular hits in ragtime style or some theatres used classic music to attract a particular class. Music scene as diversion for ear that complemented the screen"s entertainment for the yee.
