Break on through the other side (first track on the doors first album) It"s a very kind of cool jazz sound you"re listening from the drums. Diff from the typical rock music drums, little bit lighter than usual. Gonna listen to break on through to the other side now. You hear some of the general characteristics we talked about with regards to psychedelic music: distorted sound, bright timbers, bright production. We watched a concert they performed in 1968. Jim morrison is improvising, and lots of times, hes throwing out blues lyrics. He"s picking lyrics out of the air, and at one point he screams. This all part of the idea with psychedelic music, the idea that the musicians are taking you on a journey. Part of the idea of letting your mind and inhibitions go and going with whatever you feel in the moment. And morrison really did that with his body on stage too.
