Music 2ii3: popular music in north america and the united kingdom: post-world war ii. Test 1: saturday oct. 1 at 9:30am: covers first 3 weeks. Test 2: saturday oct. 29 at 9:30am: not cumulative. Last lecture before test there will be a study guide posted. Exam is cumulative but majority of questions come from november lectures: also multiple choice. This course focuses on mid-50s to early 70s: post war era. This course doesn"t cover recent stuff because we don"t know yet what to talk about. Textbook: what"s that sound: an introduction to rock and its history: covach, john, 4th edition. Textbook is seen as separate parallel stream from class: textbook is google earth, gives you good sense of big picture, overview, after google earth view of textbook, go to class to get google street view. In tests and exam, handful of questions will be based on sections from textbook. Don"t worry about numbering sequence of songs posted on avenue.
