Initially working with children with developmental delays (special needs) At this time, 1950s, many children who were non verbal or delay or autism would become institutionalized. What they focused on was these kids and wanted them to have a voice and develop. Overtime, this model is used for all clients. Based on idea that even if child is non verbal ,limited in movement of cognition; have music child within them. That music child is healthy, non affected, alive and well.
