Synopses of syntheses- evidence-based journal-brief written descriptions of an individual study or systematic review found in evidence- abstraction journals. Syntheses- systematic reviews which represent a comprehensive summary of all research evidence related to a focused clinical question. Studies- original published journals: summarizes all relevant and important research, evidence about a clinical problem, is updated as new research. Start at the top and move down until the question is answered. I- intervention- new thing that is being considered. C- comparison- what was being done before/ nothing. P- patient/population- healthcare professionals in the clinical area. C- comparison- hand washing with soap and water. Contextual evidence: evidence of a strategy that fits the situation/environment. Gathering evidence: seek out best available research evidence, draw upon the expertise and knowledge of professionals.
