Document Summary
No problem <3 the quantitative stuff is just the top part, ignore the rest its all qualitative :) Quantitative: attempts to identify, define and measure factors that contribute to a disorder or a disease, examine relationships bw factors, or determine that something is caused by something else (use pico - patient, intervention, comparison, outcome) Qualitative: asks questions about the experiences, beliefs, feelings, process or perceptions related to phenomena or problem (use ps - patient, situation) Critical appraisal: process of carefully and systematically examining research to judge its trustworthiness, and its value and relevance in a particular context. Most common and rigorous types of quantitative research design types: Questions about the effectiveness of prevention & treatment/therapy interventions. Evidence that supports how to select interventions which will prevent a problem/ condition/disease or will treat a problem/condition/disease. Evidence that identifies risk factors that cause a problem/condition/disease. Evidence that supports how to determine the likelihood that something (ie. complication) will occur bc of a problem/condition/disease.
