Menopause- marks end of menstrual cycle
Perimenopause- period shortly before menopause
Menopause transition-also known as perimenopause, start to notice symptoms and fluctuating

Osteoporosis- weakening of bones, since low bone density and increases risk of fractures
Bone density- amount of bone mineral in bone tissue (mass of mineral per volume of bone)
Osteoblast- cell that secretes a collagenous matrix for bone formation
Osteoclast- large multinucleated cell derived from macrophages that secretes acids to absorb
bone tissue during reconstruction
Bone resorbtion-process where osteoclast secrete acids to break down bone tissue to release
bone minerals
Bisphosphonates-class of drugs that prevent the loss of bone density, used to treat
osteoperosis and osteopenia
