Right thing- good life, the happiness/self interested: not selfish. Human action is a goal oriented: we act for the sake of an end. What is the ultimate goal of human action: to achieve a good life. What is required for a good life: externals. You have to be doing things to live a good life. Activity of the soul: virtue virtue and vice. Virtues are the qualities of a thing which enable it to perform its function well: knife: function to cut. Virtues- balance, sharpness, length, a sturdy handle. Human beings engage in many activities: as a result, there are many human virtues/vices. Human virtues enable human beings to perform human activities well: virtue- a settles tendency to act appropriately in a domain of human action/emotion, vice a settled tendency to act inappropriately. Every virtue applies to a specific domain of human action of emotion. The virtue is a mean between a vice of excess and a vie of deficiency.
