Document Summary

Philosophy 2ct3 lecture - september 14 2016. Many people believe autism is that autistic people don"t have the theory of mind. Previous day was not implying that autistic people cannot relate to others. To be rational is to be able to act and think on the basis of rules or principles: no rules to follow when it comes to emotion. Our actions are rational to the extent that they can be explained on the basis of our intentions: our intentions are our beliefs and desires. Capacity to follow rules implies you are aware of rules. Rationality is not universal because the rules are not the same everywhere. Which beliefs and desires it is reason, rational or appropriate to have can vary. Appropriateness of belief can be characterized in different ways. Thinking is the set of mental capacities by virtue of which we can acquire cognitions.
