Document Summary
By dependence we mean a situation in which the economy of some countries is conditioned by the development and expansion of another economy to which the former is subordinated. While modernization blame the lack of and absence of capitalism and modernity, dependency theories will claim that rather than capitalism being the answer of underdevelopment capitalism is the reason for underdevelopments. Unexpected outcome of modernization (i. e. latin america, india) along with the growth of knowledge citizens become more radical with the need of supporting order from military crops. Intellectuals are the first target of military crops in brazil, argentina, peru the knowledge people (social scientists) escaped under political refugee. Dependency theory has nothing in common with modernization theory minus the fact that they study the same thing. Main contribution was to change the analysis i. e. the egoistic approach compared to a world capitalist economic system. Development and underdevelopment are apart of the same coin correspondence.
