Mill"s believes everyones voice will be heard and the best voice will win the debate. Major media platforms can drown out other voices and change public discourse. Argument: platforms should voice other opinions that they would not normally share. What is being said is harmful to canadian muslims. Mill"s theory on harm (it is not harmful to speak out against corn farmers, however speaking out against them outside of a corn farmers house in front of an angry mob is a form of harm) Democracy: power of the state left in the hands of the people, majority should rule. Liberty: focuses on the individual, create maximum individual freedom. Our own political system is based on both, the majority should be able to make decisions however are restrained in some ways. Regardless of race, economic class, each individual should be treated equally in political domain. Voting process: funnelling individual interest to one representative. Each individual has equal right to vote.
