Make national economy more friendly to the global economy. Tensions between neoliberalism and democracy free as an individual to participate in the market, but not free to be against neoliberal policies. Policies are usually opposed to strong collective actions: unions. Governments and policies being undertaken at levels that are not under democratic scrutiny. G20 2010: considered, by some reports, largest security operation in canadian history: built perimeter in toronto, democracy: this shouldn"t happen; right to protest is a democratic right. Eg. health, security, labour, environmental laws, social security, citizenship: reconfigured to make the country more business friendly. Epz: export processing zones in specific areas, corporations have autonomy on economic matters, not central government. Wages determined by market, not government laboratories if you will; companies invest, regulate, create labour laws, wages, environmental regulations. Hotspots for business that do not want to deal with heavily regulated areas (west primarily)
