PSYCH 2B03 Lecture Notes - Social Learning Theory, Psych
Document Summary
We are responsible for the environment that influences us. 5 sets of social learning person variables: competency & self-efficacy, expectancies, encoding strategies & personal constructs. Expectancies: understanding we have about the relationships we have around us. Stimulus outcome expectancies: what is the typical sequence of events that occur in the world around us. Behaviour outcome expectancies: expectancies about what the consequences of any particular behaviour will be. Self-efficacy expectancies: different in that they are expectancies that are relevant to our current situation (not general compared to competency & self-efficacy) Value of the future goal: more willing we will be to postpone gratification to reach it. Belief that we can achieve the goal: do we have the skills necessary. Previous experiences: where there instances where we did postpone gratification and reach our goal. Do we know of others who were successful in postponing gratification.
