Forebrain - cortex that covers the whole brain. Frontal lobe: decision making and planning ; inhibit lower levels structures. Damage to area: broca"s aphasia = inability to produce speech. Can understand what others are saying and what you are trying to say. Damage to area: wernicke"s aphasia = do not know that what they are saying does not make sense. Brodmann"s - cytoarchitectural areas of the human brain. Good spatial recognition in areas that brain are most sensitive. Responsible for sending motor signals to every area in the body. Hippocampus was removed ; showed that hippocampus was used to form new memories. Ct: 3d image of the brain ; very detailed. Pet: injected with glucose, which then allows you to see what areas of the brain are active. Can detect what emotion you are feeling maybe even better then yourself.
