Document Summary

We perceive goes beyond information we are given. Information is ambiguous is still able to be read object agnosia. Apperceptive agnosia: reproduce some part of the picture, can"t join out individual parts of the picture and produce a whole. Associative agnosia: unable to name and identify the object. Template matching theory: we have lots of information(template) in our brain, when we see objects, we match templates with the objects to identify them. Problem: too many templates need to be stored. Not powerful enough of general information processing (can"t cover all the variability) Evidence: visual search: find the red triangle. Conjunction search: when there are more than one red triangle and triangle shape, makes it harder to search. Find the green horizontal line - have to overcome the color and orientation. Conjunction search is harder and slower to search: the reaction time increases as the number of items increases (more distraction)
