Document Summary

Drug tolerance: is the decreased effectiveness of a drug such as morphine over the course of repeated administration. Regarding this phenomena of drug tolerance, where theories of physiological systematic changes dominate, and this simple concept of learning seems to have greater explanatory power and has turned past literature on its head. Theories of such have been based strictly on drug administration and physiological effect on the sensitivity receptors; decreased sensitivity to drug effects occurs because of systemic changes either from increased frequency of use or blockage of receptor access. The environmental context of drug administration is a vital factor in the development of drug tolerance and the mechanisms of drug overdose, and central to the conditioning theory. Mechanisms of behaviour: two compelling reasons to consider more than behaviour alone, both of which involve learning and performance, many reasons why behaviour may change that are unrelated to learning.
