Classical: relationship bw stimuli & reflexive response. Instrumental: learning of voluntary behaviors & their consequences to guide goal directed behavior. Thorndike was pioneer in experimenting w instrumental. Conditioning: reveal effects of of action, test animal behavior to certain conditions, response to lead to goal/reinforce. Skinner expanded on the idea: sometimes effective, other times it doesn"t matter, s-delta: relationship not valid. Late for party, you"re late, response: how much you press gas peddle. Good bc it gets you there faster (when light is green) When light is red, this response is not good. 4 types of ic: reward training (+ve) Do it, receive snack: punishment (-ve) Spray bottle for done wrong: omission training (-ve) No dessert (taken away: escape training (-ve) Chore is taking out garbage, but hates it. A on test, parents decide as reward, doesn"t have to take out garbage. Continuous reinforcement: behavior is reinforced on every trial. Partial reinforcement not reinforced on every trial.
