Locations at the top of the brain - dorsal. Locations at the front of the brain - rostral. Locations at the side of the brain - lateral. Locations at the bottom of the brain - caudal. Brain injury links brain anatomy with behavioural deficits. Before the accident he was an athletic, intelligent, full of life, likeable man. Blasting of a 3 foot rod completely through his left cheekbone and through the top of his skull. After the accident he became selfish, profane, erratic and unreliable. A direct measure of a brain"s structure function. Hard to selectively target particular regions and draw conclusions. Solution specific brain lesions can be studied in animal models. Because the brain is interconnected, often a variety of behaviours are affected by a single region. Electrically (using a microelectrode) stimulate an area of the brain and observe the result on behaviour to build an anatomical map related to the function.
