Personal constructs: they are beliefs about who we are, very related to self esteem, very strongly shapes our behaviours, our constructs shape how others perceive us. If we believe we are smart and attractive, most people will view us as smart and attractive. Behaviour outcome expectancies: our set of beliefs about what will happe(cid:374) if we do (cid:862)x(cid:863, what the consequences of our behaviours will be. Powerful effect on the behaviours we engage in. Stay within our limit of what we think we can do: placebo effect, nocebo effect. Roughly equivalent to the super ego: reflects the perspective through which you view reality, it is usually very biased towards your experiences and opinions. Plans: the importance of future goals, we make choices we hope would help us achieve our future goals, delaying gratification. University students are very good at delaying gratification, they stay in school in hopes of receiving better jobs, which coincide with your future goals.
