Conversion was not a physical condition but psychological. Free association method: an alternative hypnotic method, patients speak for themselves, work through their own material. Hedonistic view is what we do is because it brings us pleasure and to minimize the feeling of unpleasure. It"s achieved by these two aspects: sexuality, aggression. His idea was that humans need a source of energy to power their pleasure. There are no other sources of pleasure and it"s only powered by the pleasure to sex and aggression. The libido is primarily sexual and sometimes primarily aggression. Three psychic structures that guide and produce pleasure id. Pleasure principle: basically says if it feels good do it and do it now. Predicate thinking: id is not good at discriminating similar images. Translates need into drive: need is something we need to have for psychosocial function, drive is something we have to have-want.
