These variables were assessed up until age 14. They determined that you can see two major clusters of variables, where some of these variables were highly intercorrelated. 20% showed dif culties: easy infants, dif cult infants. Irregular rhythms (never know when they need sleep, food etc) 70% showed various kinds of psychological dif culties during school career. Most infants retain the same grouping over the years, though sometimes it can be different. The differences was about the mothering they received: warm responsive mothering was conducive to easy, or a change from dif cult to easy. Temperament has social and environmental as well as genetics involved. Studied social development of male and female twin pairs, mz and dz. Looked at various aspects of their temperament, sociability. Separately rated each member of the twin pairs. Correlations for dz twins was extremely low compared to mz Contrast effect: the dz correlations are way too low, given the genetic similarity.
