It never runs out of capacity, we are always acquiring new memories. If you wait 30 seconds and distract them recency will suffer. The function of working memory: working memory keeps currently needed information accessible, there is a trade off between accessibility and size, there is a limited capacity. Capacity: we can learn better chinking techniques, t needs practice and uses working memory capacity, however, they are specific to the task, you cannot generalize the chunks, our strategies can make it seem that we have better strategies.
