Linear: the units are all the same: 1k , 2k: overtone structure. Log axes: the units are not all the same: 100, 320, 1. 02k: the overtones get closer, bene t: maps closely under our perception of pitch. When they are roughly at the same pitch, its hard to separate the tone form distraction tone. Its harder to hear it when they are together. When the streams are broken, we lose the relation between the streams. Once they stream separately we lose the temporal relationship. Just because things disappear from sight doesn"t mean they are gone. Bucket of what doesn"t tell us about how the waves ow or the current of water. Ocean: there is a lot going on in there and impossible to control all the variables. Octave scrambled: pitch chroma stays the same, its the octave thats changing. Pitch proximity: the second part is higher the two things break into operate streams.
