These primates have to find a female that is receptive, he has sex with her and then guards her till she is done ovulating. Summary: most of the time men will prefer younger women, the older men get, the younger they want their mate to be in order to get that peak reproductive fitness but they will be reasonable. What is attractiveness: beauty is in the adaptation of the beholder, components of attractiveness. It is adaptive to find certain things attractive and so these preferences are passed down: behaviour-cues of youth and health, facial beauty, physique. Hair: men prefer hair that is long, strong and shiny, men prefer light hair, healthy hair and strong hair are all signals of health, dishonest signalling- women may put in more effort to appear to have healthier hair. Summary preference for attractiveness is more than just being shallow, it is deeper.
