Mmpi clinical scales: recognize names / abbreviation of each scale* F / t indicates direction you have to answer to receive a point on the scale. Scale 1: hypochondriasis (hs): high = cynical, critical, demanding, self-centered: i do not tire quickly , i feel weak all over much of the time . High f = aggressive, rebellious, unrealistic: really not used a lot anymore, i would like to be a florist . Scale 0 - social introversion-extraversion (si): high = modest, withdrawn, inhibited. to it (t) Low = sociable, outgoing, confident: i find it hard to make talk when i meet new people (t) Ways of looking at pattern of answers to see if people have or have not opened honestly to the questions. Three validity scales: lie scale (l, defensiveness scale (k, careless scale (f) The lie scale (l): 15 items to detect faking good". Defensiveness scale (k): 30 items to detect more subtle defensiveness.
