(yes/no) When our in group is seen as inferior it can be harmful. Out-group homogeneity (they are all the same) Self esteem. (if one member of our in group are bad people we can cope with this by saying all members are different. ) Even in-groups you don"t have a strong connection to. Wanted to remove any affect of baggage assoc with belonging to one group or another.
