Going back we can see that there are a number of stories that as ime proceeds, people dislike the way the stories are told, so changes are made. However, we need to look at all these stories and understand. The celesial overlay whether its later or not is certainly important to the story. The need to kill ravana is really the most important event in a cosmic perspecive: we accept the idea of many r m ya as and place v lm ki"s text within that framework. We are not trying to ind or think of an original version of the ramayana. Versions will not always agree with each other.
