Persons access to knowledge assigns them prestige. More expensive, more time consuming to learn it. Next week there is visiting scholar on campus lecture on medical miracles, doctors saints and healing in our time . Knowledge is unevenly distributed - gender, sex, social class, age, ethnicity, divisions of labour. Access to specialized knowledge is even more exclusive. Being able to control the knowledge get rewards - salary, social status, power. Can also limit others access to this knowledge - controlling school admissions. Eg. alumni, or ppl who have political connections, varsity scholarship. Less than 5% admissions go to general public in us.
