Quantitative research: process, conceptualization, what do each of those variables mean, operationalization, what questions are you going to ask to get the answers, language is very important, measurement, understand the categories. Conceptualization: creating a theoretical (conceptual) definition, refers to ideas/constructs being measured, eg. self-esteem. Operationalization: links conceptual definition to measurement techniques, e. g. concept of guilt as an transity state - look for data that defines it. Measurement: why measure, to test the theory, deductive reasoning starts with theory, what is relationship between theory and data, measurement establishes relationship between iv, dv. Is there something people are understanding in your definitions: measurement precision, e. g. in the last 7 days, it"s not times of feeling guilt, multiple indicators of variable, ask same kinds of questions, e. g. Truthfulness : alignment of conceptual and operational definitions. Internal validity: research results an accurate reflection of what is going on, external validity, extent to which research conclusions can be applied to real world.
