A series of "so called" impairments that limits ppl"s experiences when navigating the world. Important to consider how society takes care of people. Our population is aging - increased experience of disability. Disability can happen to anyone, although women and aboriginal people see higher rates. People who experience disability often have lower incomes bc of discrimination in the workplace. It can be dif cult for people with sas accommodations to approach the professor for fear of stigmatization. Measures taken so people can participate in civic life. Disability used to be seen as a tragic life circumstance. Was one of the deserving experiences of poverty in england. If you couldn"t work bc of disability, you were given a pass. There was a lot of care and concern. Focus turns to independence, move away from communities. Ppl who experiences disabiilty were seen as a nuisance Soldiers started to come back with acquired disabilities.
