Sociologists do not refute biology but emphasize the importance of socialization for our development. Social interaction is necessary for our brain development and other aspects of our development (physical development) if child is deprived, then their brain development is impaired. Social interaction is just as important as water, food, etc. To what extent are we shaped by our environment vs our genes and biology. Studies of children, babies, and twins (twins who have been raised in separate families) Birth to death socialization never stops. Self-concept develops in relation to others: comes from socialization, development of all skills and agents of socialization help us in this process.
