Intimate relations and families: the labour market. It is a way of understanding and contextualising one"s experience. Scientific revolution: all things should be studied: democratic revolution: the people began to control society. Graduate unable to find tenure, must work at a fast- food chain to survive. : precarious employment (temporary, contract work w/ no benefits, pensions or job security, decline in the manufacturing sector, expansion of service sector. Immigrants may be highly educated, but are unable to find good jobs: willing to work bad jobs to give good life to kids. Foreign worker"s qualifications often not recognized by canadian employers. If we use the sociological imagination, we can understand that these effects are apart of broader trends: delayed home leaving. Nearly half of canadian young adults live with parents: they also take longer to set up households. Sequencing of important life events is less predictable.
