Intro to contemporary theory: classical theory, traditionally several theorists especially, karl marx, emile durkheim, max weber. A brief review of classical theory: influential theorists, marx, durkheim, weber, these 3 theorists who had the most influential impact on the development of sociological theory, there were many similarities and differences between them. These theorists all lived through the industrial revolution and addressed it in their work: all analysed in their own ways the social implications of industrial capitalism. Interested in the growth of factory production in late 19th and early 20th century: difference: all looked at it but looked at the industrial revolution in different ways.
