He did complete law school and worked for a time as a junior barrister with his law degree. He started working on a phd in law (received in 1889). After weber graduated with his phd, he had to decide if he wanted to continue practicing law or pursue an academic career. University employment: he began his academic careers as a lecturer in law at the university of berlin in 1891. However, his interest started to shift, he started to become interested in economics, history and sociology.
